Stepping into the void for safety's sake.
In Afyonkarahisar, a security ribbon was tied to the arm of a
worker in order to close off a street during snow removal
operations. The related photograph touched off a reaction on
social media.
The photo was taken by a local shopkeeper and shows one end
of the ribbon tied to a garbage can, the other to the worker's arm.
Once the snow-removal machines had completed the work on
the street, in about 10 minutes, the worker detached the ribbon.
Don't try this at home.
Citizens criticized the use of a worker as a pole and declared that
it was an insult to any human being. Mayor Burhanettin Coban
made an announcement about the matter yesterday, as follows:
"Without any instruction whatsoever from our municipality, one
of our workers voluntarily tied the security ribbon to his arm and
this didn't last for more than 5 minutes (sic, he's a politician after all)"
